Who Am I?

My name is Carla, but my friends call me Carley.  I like it.  

In a nutshell, I am Christian, Independent, Bipolar, Canadian, an author and blogger, Mommy to a Shih-Tzu named Maggie, a business owner (Bookkeeping), a volunteer (every Thursday in my church office), and an abuse survivor.  Most of all I am a Jesus girl!

I was born in the small town of Fortune, Newfoundland.  I was raised in the even smaller town of Blaketown, Newfoundland.  I now live in Barrie, Ontario, where I have been since 1987.  I absolutely love living in Barrie and it has become home for me in my heart.

What Do I Write About?

In addition to blog writing here on Worship Melodies, my author site, I also have a website called Breaking the Window, which is all about doing my part to help break stigma against mental illness and abuse, to help those who live with it, and those who want to help them.

I've also co-authored and contributed to a book called "Groove: Stories to Refresh How We Think and Feel About Our Mental Illnesses" with Daphne Tarango and 8 other inspirational Christian writers who live with mental illness.

What is My Mission Statement?

To share my devotional messages based on my journey to God. He longs to have an intimate relationship with us. It's music to His ears when we worship him by 'singing His praises' even through our trials. I want to share my experiences and gifts to do spread the Gospel as we are all called to do.  I pray my Worship Melodies bring you blessings.

My Testimony

This was my first-time public speaking.  I was a keynote speaker at a weekend women's retreat held at the beautiful Circle Square Ranch in Brantford, Ontario.  This video is 40 minutes long and is titled "From Weakness and Abuse to Strong and Free".  I hope that it blesses you and inspires you.  

My Life Scriptures

Thus far in my life with God, there are a few scripture verses that keep coming up over and over for me.  They've become my 'theme' verses.

• Joshua 1:9 (NIV84): Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
• Philippians 4:13 (NKJV): I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
• 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV): For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind
• Hebrews 11 (the whole chapter; any version): known to Christian's as "The Faith Chapter" or "The Hall of Faith".  I love this chapter.  It leaves me feeling filled with hope; because I am reminded that all it takes is Faith!

Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the virgin Mary,

was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell.
