Jesus told
us how to pray by giving us the Lord’s Prayer.
I recently came upon the question “Whose kingdom is it?”. It got me thinking about the part that says ‘your
kingdom come’. The kingdom of God... it
is HIS kingdom; right?
But, Do You Really Know What
it All Means?
Many a
book has been written explaining the Lord’s Prayer. Some of us pray it every
day; others, more than once a day. We
even pray it out of habit when we don’t know what else to pray. We can repeat the words without even paying attention
to what we’re saying.
Your Kingdom Will Indeed Come
We are
born into this world, thanks to God. We
have to live here so that we can be molded to be like Jesus. Then we have to leave and (for Christians) go
to spend eternity with God. He created
this amazing kingdom here on earth, and the one to come so we could live with
Him; so we could love Him, and He to love us.
In essence, He created the kingdom for
us. So is it His kingdom or is it
ours?
God is HolyPsalm 93:1-5 (NIV) says “The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity. The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves. Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the Lord on high is mighty. Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.”
God
created the earth, heavens, universe, and everything and everyone in them. He is perfect, all-knowing, merciful,
graceful, and faithful. He is love. He is supreme. We are not even capable of understanding just
how loving and absolute He is. Human
beings need Him for everything. So, yes
it is His kingdom; and we should all be proud and excited to be His
children. You are a child of the one
true King; and heir with Jesus. We get
to go live with Him in His perfect kingdom!
Let’s Pray
~~ Dear God ~~ You are so mighty,
perfect, and holy. My feeble attempts
and praise and worship don’t do You justice.
Thank You that I am Your Child. I
am royalty of the one true King. Thank
You for Your kingdom; and the inheritance that You have in store for me; for
all of us. Please help me to praise and
worship You in every thought, word, and deed.
Hold me accountable so that I don’t fall off track. I am very much looking forward to living in
Your kingdom with Jesus. In Jesus name,
AMEN.
Now It’s Your Turn
